Are you near a military hospital?
I Have Tricare prime so I can go to any civilian hospital or surgeons office in our network
I am Tricare Prime also but in Norfolk so I had to do the program at Portsmouth Naval Hospital. It was over several months due to the waiting list but I paid less that $50 out of pocket in total so I have no complaints.
Oh an that included the stay at Portsmouth Naval
I use to live in Norfolk ! But we are stationed at Camp Pendleton now they have a naval hospital but my Tricare is the one where you choose your civilian doctors off base
Correction I have Tricare standard lol
I have *standard...only needed 3 months (non consecutive) weight loss with my doc. I got approved with no problems with no comorbidities. If you have any other questions let me know! There were other things I did but I don’t remember which were required by surgeon versus insurance.
Edit to standard. Had mine at the hospital of my choosing with no referral required.
Yes I have that type of Tricare that all My doctors are off base and civilians I can choose any
Hospital in my Tricare network
What was your starting
Weight ? Where
You over 40 BMI or indeed
tanna I was BARELY at 40 BMI. I had to gain a bit to get it over the 40. Throughout the preop process they said to not lose weight and not gain any...I gained a bit and by surgery day I weighed 4 pounds more then the first day at surgeons office.
Oh okay that makes sense I’m at 45.7 BMI so I might have to loose
Some weight but I’m prepared !
tanna yea, my thoughts on it are that they just want to see you are adopting the new habits they are teaching you. I felt it was more difficult maintaining shitty eating while keeping in mind how much I would have to change AFTER surgery.
Exactly I want to slowly get into the diet they want us to have before surgery so I’m prepared after surgery
What do you think are the biggest challenges after surgery
tanna head hunger. I feel hungry because there is all of this amazing food I can’t have! I also haven’t dumped-had surgery 12/20. I’ve stayed within my diet restrictions but have advanced my diet as far as texture and am doing fine. It’s scary though because I almost wish my body would tell me when I messed up!
Yes I know some people
Wish they would get sick
More often to keep
Them on track
I’m one of
Those people! Lol I believe in tough love for myself
tanna I’m losing good though-down 14 pounds since surgery...my energy is coming back and I’m looking forward to start going to the gym with my hubby
That is great ! I know it feels amazing to finally feel in Control of Your weight
Check to see for sure since Humana took over January 1. Not sure how that will effect Prime.
Okay I did call
Them they gave me approved hospitals and my surgeon is approved just the process I hope it’s not 6 months like some
If it is just roll with it. The time will fly by and it helps to get your mind in the right place. I am 8 years out.
I have Tricare standard I was so wrong hubby told me lol
We have prime and there was no waiting period. Approval was one day, out of network and everything was covered.
That is awesome! Very encouraging!
Yea it was way easier than I thought being out of network but all my preop appointments and testing was about 6 weeks, start to finish!
That is great I can only hope I have such a smooth process
I have standard so we will

Oh that’s awesome
I have Tricare standard so
I got off base but everyone has a 2-3 month weight and that’s great for me !
I have Prime. 6 months weight loss counseling. Cardiologist, PAP, mammogram, H-Pylori test.
Whoa and we're prime and didn't need any of that. So weird.
I'm 55 so age may have something to do with that. Copay was $25.
