Hi all, I recently got diagnosed by my dr with IBS, pending tests. It started on Friday with pain in my ribs, shoulder blades, lower back and abdomen. The got slowly worse until it was unbearable and I was curled up crying. It felt like trapped wind but horrendous!

To cut a long story short I was prescribed Codeine, Omeprazole and Lactulose. Do that all seem normal IBS? Any advice much appreciated x

I haven't a clue at the minute, this is the first one that's been bad. I may have had mini flares before and not realised maybe

Try keep a food diary over the next week as that can help you pin point things early on. The codeine will definetly help with the D side of it

Oh it will defo add to the problems. Buscopan or mebeverine usually help. Even try a cup of peppermint tea and a wee hot water bottle

Seems like a lot of medication at once. It might be difficult to find if one works better than the other. Maybe you should speak with your doctor. I'm on 20 mg omeprazole one a day...but alternate days

Well the Codeine is because I can't stand with the pain. The lactulose is because the Codeine bungs me up
