How do you know when to go in to a Dr when passing blood?

I was diagnosed with UC a year ago and have had a few problems but yesterday I passed something looked like fat and today I can't stay out of the bathroom and been passing blood as well, I also have bleeding ulcers but it's usually different. I am sick of ER's and hate to go in but idk what else to do I panic when I see blood because I am usually passing out! I just don't wanna wait to long if I do need to go in but if this is normal with UC then I'll wait it out.

I would personally call your GI doctor office or the after hours service and ask them to decide if you need to come into the office or ER. They can call ahead and alert the ER that you are coming and the situation. Thats what my primary did for me when they said got to the ER. Just one thing, right now most of the hospitals are in code Red meaning no beds and many people are there with the flu waiting for beds. You'll be risking certain exposure to the flu! Ultimately the decision is yours and only yours to make Charissa.

Blood in stool is never "normal". My doctor always asks are you running a temperature? How's your pain?

I'm running a fever been staying around 99 to 100 but I caught the flu when waiting in ER a couple weeks ago but this bleeding today has me worried I didn't know if it was just normal because I hear of people talking all the time about how they pass blood a lot but this isn't normal for me, just worries me but so many people are sick and I don't feel like waiting up there

Charissa Please call your doctor, they will call you back. Reason it out with them and use your head, not your fear in deciding, please.

I started bleeding again a few weeks ago, after I thought I was in remission and was weaned off steroids in October. Got the flu 3 weeks ago, and the blood and mucus started back. I called the dr., he put me back on steroids to stop the bleeding, and seeing him in a few days to see what steps to take next. But blood, blood clots, mucus, has been the last week. I’m pretty sure it’s just indicative of another flare and the steroids have calmed it down a bit. I’d wait to talk to your dr before subjecting yourself to the other germs in the ER. Maybe your dr can prescribe a steroid to stop the bleeding.

I called my Dr and they want me to go to ER and I've not done it they said don't go to after hour clinics because they don't have ct scans but they usually do a rectal exam, it's been a bit better but I'm piking now and I think I'm dehydrated, I'm so sick I don't even feel like getting out of bed.. Er never helps me anyway
