If he is positive does that mean he had it prior to being with me? If is negative, he should retest after 4 months? Is that accurate? Hope this makes sense. Thanks for the info!
IgG Type Specific. If he has a high number it may mean he has already had herpes as it can take up to 4 months for antibodies to show. He could just be sick right now. Do you have reason to believe he recently caught herpes from you?
I'm hoping he's just sick. Well, we spent the weekend together, yesterday I got that familiar tingle/sunburn sensation and my lower back was hurting (happens every time I get a herpes outbreak) so we refrained from sex. But I wonder if this weekend, he could have possibly caught it from viral shedding?
We never know when we are shedding. could be your outbreak was from friction. It seems funny to hope someone is just sick. but I'm with you on that one. If it is herpes, I'm sure it's something you can handle together.
Lol I mean just a cold. That goes away. Of course I don't hope he's sick in a worse way. No one wants to pass herpes on to someone else, well I don't. He's well aware of the risks and it wouldn't be a huge deal for him. But I was just curious on the testing aspect of it. Thanks for the info.
You're welcome. please keep us posted.
It sounds exactly how I felt when I went to get tested I got the whole line up for the blood work and found out I had it
But if he tests now, couldn't it be a false negative since we have only been having sex for 6 weeks?
If he tests negative then yes, the antibodies may not have had enough time to develop and it could be a false result. If however he tests positive now, then he possibly had hsv already.
my boyfriend gets headaches, fatigue, chills, etc but never had a herpes outbreak and tested negative from blood labs. I'd never had any symptoms but had a herpes outbreak after sex 1 day and went to MD not knowing what issue was. Tested positive for herpes and started suppression meds. 2yrs later he's still never had a herpes outbreak but gets headaches frequently etc. what we were told is there's no way to know who infected who and the blood labs aren't always 100% accurate if the individual may not be experiencing symptoms at time of testing. The cultures seem to be most accurate to do. I've only had 1 additional outbreak since the 1st but had no symptoms leading up to the episode.
Sounds like symptoms of my first outbreak. The inaugural outbreak was the worst.
He doesn't have anything on his genitals. He did go to the doctor and doc visually checked and said he didn't think it was herpes but he didn't get blood work done
That's too bad. It amounts to a useless visit. We have to insist on what we need sometimes, this was one of those times.
He's going to go see him primary care physician tomorrow and get blood work.
