Sjogren's Syndrome

I have had rib pain for around 20 years, my entire rib hurts to touch some areas are more sore in other areas My chest area right between the breast is sore to touch. Sometimes it hurts to lie on my side. I have mentioned it to doctor's and they don't say much.

About a year ago I mentioned it again to my rheumatologist and she did the test for fibro but I didn't hurt in the areas she touched, but I was tender in other areas. I have had chronic pain where I hurt everywhere. Anyway she told me to come back and we could investigate further for fibro but when I came back I forgot to mention it, we were talking about my joint pain and weather the methotrexate was working for me. I guess when I go back I need to question her about this. So do any of you that have fibro have the entire rib cage, both sides hurt when you touch it? Do you think this is from fibro or something more serious. If I have a ct scan of my stomach because I have been having trouble with my stomach, would it show your entire rib cage on it? Thanks for you help!

Sounds like costochondritis

I read about that last night.

I get costochondritis frequently. It's inflammation of the small joints that attach the ribs to the breast bone in the front and the ribs to the spine in back. It is very painful and makes taking deep breaths nearly impossible.

My chiropractor helps the pain a ton

Mine isn't painful when I breathe just when I touch them or lie on my side. I also get joint pain in my back, neck and shoulders so it's hard to tell if it's joint pain or that I may have fibro.

Yes, it does make breathing difficult.

But I don't have trouble breathing. It's only sore between my breast if I touch it. My ribs are sore all the time and some spots are worse if touched.

Yeah my skin even hurts too. You should see a chiropractor and see if they can help. They use a tool which is called an activator and it helps a lot with the pain

tamera thanks. I don't think I have costochondritis . I think it's more fibro than anything. my chest is only sore if I touch it, it doesn't hurt all the time. It's my rib cage that is sore all the time and resting doesn't help it. I have had this for 20 years. But thanks for your help.

Felica oh gotcha. I’m sorry. It’s rough. What supplements have you tried? Does glucosamine help or curcumin (sp)?

Honestly, my mom and I both have Sjogrens and have exactly. The same areas sore. Our physicians said that its just part of Sjogrens. Light massage, NSAIDS, biofreeze, stretches, magnesium, vit D, and LDN habe all helped me with this.

I do also have fibromyalgia because I have the trigger points.

But muscle pain IS part of Sjogrens

I get pain around my ribs and chest but it's from little painful lipomas from Dercum's Disease. They can attach to your ribs, this area hurts me the most even though I have them all over.
