I get a slight tight choking sensation. It only happens when I sleep my stomach which unfortunately is the only way I sleep. But it doesn’t bother me at all during the day when I’m walking, talking, or just doing anything. Only when I sleep on my stomach. And I have gained a lot of weight. My depression made me binge eat and I gained quite a lot of weight. Which caused more problems. Anyways what are your thoughts?
My nodule on the right side of my thyroid caused me a lot of discomfort just before it was removed. I found I had to sleep with a bunch of pillows to make it comfortable to sleep before my surgery (also a stomach sleeper).
I went to the doctor because I was coughing/choking at night - it turns out I was having silent reflux. I had a scope done and was put on meds and anti-reflux measures at night. It has helped a great deal! Just a thought! You should definitely go see your doc though
I do have acid reflux! Maybe that’s it?
I used to sleep on my stomach and went through what you are describing. I now sleep on my side, made myself get used to it. Give it a try. Lizbeth I have to arrange my pillow just right too, I cant stand anything touching my nodule on my right side!
I had those sensations as well.
The only way you will know is to get yourself to a doctor!
You had these sensations? But not anymore? What was causing it?
Sherman the pressure from the tumor was pressing on my throat. Plus my levels were whacked out- tsh levels went up and down for no reason.
Again- MANY things can cause this. You seriously need to see a dr.
I didn’t have any symptoms at all. It was completely random how they found my thyroid cancer. Go to an endocrinologist so they can ultrasound your thyroid...then you’ll know and (hopefully) rest easy. Good luck!
How did they discover it?
I went to the endo because my weight was fluctuating, I was tired a lot and frequently cold. The symptoms weren’t severe, but a friend thought I might have a slow thyroid, so I decided to check it out. Plus I just turned 50.
The doctor did an ultrasound on my neck just on whim (she wasn’t sure if she felt anything). Turns out, I had two thyroid tumors. A biopsy found they were malignant, and then I had my thyroid removed.
Ironically, my thyroid levels were completely normal. It turns out my weight fluctuates because I eat too much and I should exercise more.
Weight gain is a symptom. I gained 30 pounds in 16 months while running numerous 5Ks. My blood pressure also skyrocketed.
I gained weight because I stopped exercising and I ate a lot of crap foods. I know why I lost weight. I lost 5lbs now but still got long ways to go
Even with healthy eating with hypothyroidism you will gain weight.
It might be more than you think...always a good idea to see a Dr!!!
Well i have gained about 30 pounds in 2 years since finding out i had hypothyroid i just recently found out on the 4th i have thyca but before then i was feeling sick often but i was having high blood pressure risen heart rate etc. But was told it was because my thyroid was outta wack but more recently ive been having trouble breathing still high bp and heart rate and anytime i eat i get nauseas and dizzy etc i habe no idea if this is related to the cancer but wish i knew as almost noone has symptoms
