I saw a new chiropractor who said he can cure my asthma. Does anyone have any experiences like this? I didn’t really believe it

My uncle is a chiropractor and I will say he does help mine stay controlled. Less attacks and better breathing. Not cured, of course, but rather well managed.

How?

Wilhelmina He gives me a full adjustment, but concentrated on certain vertebrae that directly works to help breathing. Like I mentioned, it’s not cured, but when my asthma begins flaring up, I can usually go see him and it helps.

I have seen multiple chiropractors. There are amazing ones like David Bax who gave me my life back in Indianapolis and there are QUACKS out there too that profess what you wrote...cure...hah yeah right...let's put it this way I have seen chiropractors over 30 years and I still have asthma...don't get me wrong...misalignment DO affect breathing. ..yes I have breathed much better once that was resolved...physical therapy exercises has the same effect if done correctly on me anyway...heck try yoga..you may acheive same results. ..buy a beginner dvd...do in the comforts of your home..I would RUN while you have the chance

I had one tell me after a bunch of scans of my spine on my very first visit without mentioning anything of my medical history- “you have breathing trouble, I bet you’ve had asthma since a child, I don’t think it’s asthma, it’s your spine out of alignment’ 15 years later, 100 something adjustments, my back feels better, still have asthma

Yep, I’ve been told they could cure my Ulcerative Colitis. That was really hip misalignment. Tell that to the pathology. The microscope doesn’t lie. Now I have no colon, arthritis, and asthma. I’ve gotten to the point I tell them to just do the alignment and keep the mumbo jumbo to them selves. If I need advice I’ll ask for it/

Ask to see the peer-reviewed research published in a reputable science journal that supports his treatment regimen. When he can't look you in the eyes with a response, walk away.

There’s no cure for asthma yet, certainly not from a chiropractor. Asthma is a condition of the airways, not a neuromuscular disorder.

dingle79
Answered 7 months ago    reply

Of course there is no cure, but I see a chiropractor regularly for my scoliosis, and it has HELPED my breathing. Certainly has not cured me.

keiser
Answered 7 months ago    reply

I’m not a doctor but I am studying and I know how to research peer-reviewed medical journals. There are current studies being conducted to find a cure for asthma, but there is no current cure - only management. If a chiropractor is promising you an asthma cure, you have grounds to file a complaint with the medical division in your country. If I were you, I’d start to record your apts with him on your phone as back-up.

Does this involve nearly daily appointments, and after a good number of them, you're told "well, no one can help everyone." I had one such experience for a muscle injury and stopped going when I realized I wasn't being helped, in fact it was getting worse. I hope you have a better experience.

I used to have cushing’s disease caused by a pituitary tumor. And i went to chiropractor told him i wanted to feel my best while facing the disease. He gave me an adrenal hormone to “wake up my adrenals” from adrenal fatigue. Ummmm... my adrenals were over-producing cortisol already! If i wouldve taken his regimen- my cushing’s symptoms would have increased severely!!!! No thanks.

I had a chiropractor like that. All he cured was his empty pockets, but not by emptying mine!

sherrie68
Answered 7 months ago    reply

He/ she should not say that. No cure but even a ethical chiropractor would not make any promises. The thought is to adjust the spine so the nurves are flowing freely and thus helping indirectly. I’m Not a Chiropractor I heard one speak often. Nor I indorse any treatment to anyone they have to make up there minds themselfs.and seek advise from a md first.

Curing is a strong word. He should have said help your asthma. I get my vertebra out that puts the nerves to my lungs out of place and I have more attacks. So Chiropractic care can help a lot but if anyone says cure.... Run!!!!
