Ulcerative Colitis

I was just recently diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. I also have celiacs disease and autoimmune pancreatitis.

My GI doc said he would put me on Immuran and a tapered prednisone soon (I’ve taken prednisone before to treat autoimmune pancreatitis) and that my ulcerative colitis is in the beginning stages, and that it can be reversible. Does anyone have experience with Immuran and is it possible to reverse ulcerative colitis? Or at least keep it from getting worse? Also that I would need a colonoscopy every year to check for cancer/pre-cancer. Has my cancer risk just substantially increased because of ulcerative colitis? Sorry for all the questions but as we all know, sometimes it’s easier to just talk to people in the same boat who have more experience.
