Are you hungry? If you aren't, then don't worry. Have that cup of decaf and go to bed.
I'm hungry but I dont care lol
Most can do really well by just eating when hungry. Not hungry, don’t eat.
The one exception for some of us is breakfast. Some of us will see our BG rise in the morning until we eat. That used to be the case for me. I still see some elevation in the morning but not nearly as bad as it used to be.
If morning numbers are an issue maybe consider a small fatty protein snack before bed. Like a few nuts or a piece of cheese. Then something soon after waking. Otherwise no need to eat if not hungry.
There’s one other potential issue. If you’re on glucose lowering meds like a sulfonylurea or insulin you may need to eat to avoid a low or better yet get advice from your dr or pharmacist on a suitable dose reduction or elimination of the dose if a meal is skipped.
I am doing LCHF and not on meds. My doctor told me I could skip a meal or even fast for a day if I wanted too. have some chicken broth
I try to keep pepperoni and cream cheese on hand just for times like this.
Have a boiled egg.
I usually keep cheese(already cut and ready to grab) and almonds on hand for easy snacks
Check your blood sugar and make an informed decision. If its low consider eating at least a snack.
We sometimes just have a cup of instant broth with a tea spoon of butter and a table spoon of HWC, it's creamy and wonderful and very satisfying.
Did you know that the 3-meal a day thing is a made up invention and has nothing to do with nutrition. Same with the suggestion to snack. Absolutely nothing to do with nutrition - however it does help sell a lot of products when consumers think they're supposed to eat stuff all the time. I'd say that's called force feeding. __ Sometimes we're hungry and sometimes we're not. Not hungry, don't eat. Don't force feed, makes for sick ppl.
Interesting concept. I tend to get weak, dizzy without any food over 5-6 hours, but wouldn't our bodies dump glucose knowing we need something for energy if we don't eat, sort of like dawn phenomenon?
Collette good question , I don't know the answer but I'm interested
This is an area where different people are actually different. My body does well with extended fasts, others do not. I hate that my body does well, though, because I love any excuse to eat more food.
Gatson my body doesn't mind, but my blood sugar sure does.
Collette Ceola - What Gatson^^ said. Some people do well with extended fasts, others do not. __ In my case the longer my Keto/LCHF lifestyle the more normalized my BGs became. The more normalized my BGs became the less of an issue skipping a meal/snack became for me. Eventually snacks weren't even in my schedule anymore. __ If you aren't able to skip a meal & aren't really hungry and there's no meds/insulin factor that might make skipping a meal dangerous for you (ie - low BGs), then why not have a small snack instead. __ The snack can help you transition safely.
I did end up having a piece of cheese. Because I was hungry but not hungry enough to prepare something more.
Ceola Sounds like it worked for you.
