Ok, so I know some of you are going to get a good laugh at this, and it’s totally ok. I probably would too. I just took my cat’s medicine thinking it was my own. I’m. Not. Joking. Thank god it was only ahalf pill of Prilosec, but I have huge paranoia issues when it comes to meds.

Can anyone think of any reason why this could end badly for me?

Nope. You'll be fine

One Prilosec, and a half dose at that, is benign for the majority of the population. Only concern would be if you had an allergy to that specific med, which I've never heard of.

Does anyone by chance take Klonopin? I checked for drug interactions, and it said the two meds together could cause more drowsiness and possible breathing issues...? But I’m assuming 1/2 a pill one time isn’t enough to cause an interaction.

Klonopin is sedating. But you have to take something else sedating. The warning is basically a warning that taking two sedating drugs might sedate you enough you quit breathing. When I took pain meds they always asked me if I had any trouble breathing. I take buspar for anxiety I really wouldn’t worry.

I'd call your pharmacist to check for interactions. I'm a Mom. I could totally do the same thing

Are you going to try the cat with your pill - they would probably have more of a reaction - check with your pharmacist if they are open - drink plenty of fluids to flush it out

Lol. No I didn’t give him my pill. That would have been way worse. I think I should set up my phone alarm so that there isn’t a time of day that he and I both have something to take

Pets medicine is usually prescribed by weight of the pet. I doubt you have anything to worry about unless you weigh the same as your cat!

Unfortunately, it’s Prilosec OTC, not a script. But, yes the cat is a tad smaller than me

In all seriousness you should be fine. It was a small dose. If you're really concerned call your pharmacy and ask them.

Usually, pets get farer low doses of meds than humans (based on the weight to dose ratio). Unless your cat is a tiger, you should be okay

You can always call the pharmacy being they would also know what other meds you’re on or what to avoid for a few hours. I’m pretty sure (but not positive so please double check) you have to stay away from vit supplements for a few hours before and after... for example
