Okaay! Erm. Probably not IBS related, but I've been put on Naproxen 500mg and Omeprazole 10 mg for some recently painful joint pain I've been having, I didn't have time to ask the pharmacist about this as I needed to get home as being outside made me feel anxious.

But can I take Buscopan with those meds? First time taking Naproxen/Omeprazole.

I would call the pharmacist. I call them when I have questions about medications and they are always happy to help.

I've had these a few times for bouts of sciatica. I take mebebeverine rather than buscopan and never had any problems. If you are registered with the chemist they would tell you if there was any problems

Naproxen is a strong pain killer which is likely to give tummy issues/ heartburn. The omeprazole will protect both for acidity reasons. Try it and see how you go.. If still unsure it's always best to get professional advise. I personally stay away from such pain relief but understand if it's required then it is.

One side effect I've noticed is that it makes me feel very sleepy. It's both good and good/bad. Good because I can catch up on lost Z's and good/bad because I slur my speech when tired and my stepdad laughs with me about it. I 've taken Zopiclone before so I know how it feels

I have taken all 3 together before with no issues. Naproxen is my saving grace when I am totally doubled up in pain... I hate taking it, but it does work.

You can take all 3. Take less naproxen if pain is controlled.

I am prescribed esomeprazole for GERD, naproxen for back pain and buscopan for cramps - they are different meds that work in different ways and safe to take together. Just remember with the naproxen you can't take Aspirin or Ibuprofen and cant use products like ibuprofen or piroxocam gels.

But paracetamol is okay?

Yes as long as you're not taking anything like co-codamol which also contains paracetamol.

I take naproxen 1000mg and nexium 40 mg every day, no issues, you can take your panadol , and other ibs tablets with it, just remember that when taking any more anti inflammatory tablets e,g ibuprofen that you are already at half your daily limit , I'm at my max daily limit with 1000mg

I can't do NSAIDS. I have an erosion in my stomach that bleeds when I try to use any of those drugs. Watch for black stool and worse pain. NSAIDS are dangerous with IBS in my opinion...for what it's worth.

Naproxen actually dissolves not in the gut but the duodenum so that is why it's better for so,e people. And hence why people often take it combined with nexium

That may be true, but NSAIDS block prostaglandins which produce mucus in the gut. Therefore, the protection does drop no matter where it dissolves. It may help a little, but not a lot.
