What is the least antiserotonergic first gen H1 antihistamine? My serotonin is already low and I can’t afford for it to drop any more.

Oh, this is such a good question. First gen H1's make me very depressed, and I've heard of people becoming suicidal on them. Of that population no one had there serotonin levels checked. All I know is I can tolerate Allegra (not first generation).

I was told you can’t test for serotonin. How did they test you?

Low 5HIAA after taking meds and based on symptoms, was tested by allergist but diagnosed by endocrinologist.

I was told to take 5-HTP 100mg 2x a day. Haven’t felt a major difference yet tbh.

There is also a serum test (5-Hydroxytryptamine or 5HT, but the urine one is more accurate because it checks for the metabolite of serotonin and the levels can change through the day) We are going to run it after my next appointment... if we can find a vein lol
