What's everyone's thoughts on regular painkillers just paracetomol. Is it better to regularly take a simple paracetomol and keep it in the system. Or take something like co codomol or paramol just when the pain is is unbearable? I've had different advice.

Do you take them regularly to keep them in your system or as and when needed? I do take co codomol bit trying to stay off taking them regularly for as long as possible

Now I am on the patches they stay on for a week so they give me constant flow. I take the co codamoyl when I flare up. Only take when needed.

what ever you take you need to take regular for it to work, even if you take for week and then stop for few days. it needs to build up in system to be of benefit

Paracetamol didn’t help me at all , I take cocodamol 500mg also ibuprofen. Only take when the pain is unbearable, as they can ruin the lining of your stomach. I know this from experience as I ended up vomiting blood a few years back and this went on for months before I realised it was all the meds I was taking. I was on them daily and 4 times a daniele.

I cannot take My ibuprofen anymore. I was prescribed high doses years ago, and if I take more than 1 within a week's time, I vomit blood. Sad, as it worked well for me.

lemons oh no, I healed completely after I stopped all meds for a while and went plant based. I used to have the worst acid reflux I vomited fizzy watery stuff that burnt all my throat and caused an ulcer which I vomited the coffee bean (clotted blood) up. After going plant based last jan, my stomach healed, all my inflammation went in my knees , thumb and other joints and the acid reflux disappeared . I take the ibuprofen and co codamol only when I desperately need it for the joint pain and tmd and t.n pain I suffer from. I stopped the morphine etc but still have to take carbamazepine and gabapentin for the nerve pain and jaw pain. Wish something would help the pain but so far not found anything

I am on Zapain but feel they no longer work. I get by by using an ibuprofen gel. Oh to be pain free and not feel like I have been hit by a bus.

Yes, I feel the same way re tablet-taking. I save my tramadol as a treat! m sure they only work the first time I took them..I take magnesium and hot Epsom salt baths. Do feel tempted to try CBD or Kratom, Need to try taking turmeric, I have the organic bag just haven't opened it yet. Yes Lora If we had more dosh! we could employ our personal chef and masseur. That would definitely make me feel better. Ooops and cleaner..

For all of you that take regular pain killers do you also take the other tablets that stop the painkillers damaging your stomach lining and causing bleeds ? Only asking as I was prescribed pain killers but also these other ones . I’m now off the pain killers as dr said not good to keep taking them I’m now on chondroitin (natural) they help a lot

I do not take any painkillers ( as of yet) however, I do take Gabapentin for my nerve damage and although it doesn't help totally, I am worse if I forget a dose.
