Who uses quercetin? How much do you take? What does it help? Diet corrects many problems for me but I still have major reactions to chemical smells. I try to avoid but they are everywhere! Would it help if I took this regularly like I take pepcid zyrtec and hydroxyzine to prevent problems? Ty

My daughter takes 1500 mg per day. It helps her skin pain. She doesn't have a problem with chemical smells, so I can't say if it would help with that.

I don’t tolerate it but some do benefit from it.

I used to but it effects estrogen I read in a sci article and so I rarely take it now. Too bad as it is great and helped mast cell issues and allergies.

Does it increase estrogen levels?

That is what I recall. The study showed similarities to soy I think. I sent it to my Dr and he told me not to take it.

Wow really? I'm going to have to read more about this. Thanks for mentioning it.

I've seen this mention in that it could slightly raise it, but then found subsequent studies that said no, it didn't effect estrogen.

So higher estrogen could lead to cancer?

If you have too much estrogen and not enough progesterone, it can cause changes in the uterine lining which can lead to cancer. That happened to me ( not from quercetin). I was actually lucky I had a polyp that caused a hemorrhage, because I had to have an ultrasound for that, and it showed an abnormally thick endometrial lining, so they did a biopsy which showed complex hyperplasia...basically precancerous cells. I had to take Provera for several months and then have a d&c. My doctor said if I hadn't had the bleeding episode, the hyperplasia probably wouldn't have been found until it had become cancer and spread.
