Yes it is. I have many different noises also and when it's really bad my hearing is completely muffled. I am deaf on my left side from childhood only a right functioning side, so my T is worse

I have H but don't think it's cronic although when I go to restaurants the noise is too overwhelming and I end up leaving. How do you socialize with this T/H.

Took time and of course I avoid loud places or use earplugs which I dread!

There isn't much to do in my town. ..stay in more so, have friends over and go to their homes. Truly only live bands bother me and loud restaurants. I pretty much don't eat out much. For dates men like a woman who cooks! Lolol

Yes they do indeed Mandie..why I dread using them. Then all.you hear is your own voice and amplified and my H is awful after.

I love going out to eat on Friday night, but lately been staying in. I feel bad for my husband since he likes to go out to dinner. He's very understanding thank goodness. I've had this for 20 plus years but these last couple of years it's gotten worse.

Do you hear muffled as well?

I like authentic food which is good as we have many smaller restaurants like that here..also tea shops. You have to be creative. I avoid Starbucks and the like, too much $$ anyways! I obviously can't attend the theatre or movies either..I miss out on alot and have to be more creative for dating but my friends are understanding and accomodating.

Oh! Yes back to dinner out, perhaps cook some fancy or different dishes on Friday night (defeats purpose of dining out of course) but just something to keep your Friday evenings interesting so you don't miss out on fine dining.. I love cooking so it's fun for me :) (hate clean up tho!)

Yes we both do the cooking thing if I'm up to it. Otherwise we just order in. Still it's just not the same anymore. I don't drink alcohol because of the T. It's been almost 2 years. I always looked forward to my glass of wine after work. That's the past now sticking to non alcoholic beverages (blah).

How's your hearing in general, do you hear the TV at all or do you need to turn up the volume? If I turn up the volume I hear muffled and everything just sounds muffled. It does get better when my T lowers, but still have difficulties hearing.

My hearing has definitely deteriorated over the years. Yes I have days where everything sounds muffled and I'm shocked at how loud I have to have the tv. It all depends on my T. I guess could be TMJD for me? Don't know.

I had a very bad fall in Colorado and after that a bad automobile accident. I think that both of those incidents triggered the Tinnitus. It got really bad 2008 and has gotten worse with each crisis. I used to get these tinnitus attacks on and off. But now they're more frequent. I was like in a sort of remission for 1 year (2015) and the following year came back with a vengeance for 8 months. Then again it was good for 4 months. By the end of 2016 it started up again and it's been 7 months with no peace and bad days where I can't even go out the door.

So.sorry to hear that Mandie :( so odd it goes and comes back. Have you had your neck checked? Vertabrae or discs perhaps? Maybe a chiro could be helpful?

I have bilateral tinnitus and hyperacusis and this is going on 2 years now it has been a massive struggle and the last 3 nights I have been dealing with a change of medications which have caused a flare-up in my right ear and it's making me crazy if you have not already I would highly recommend getting a pair of Bose headphones that are the 35 decibel noise cancelling type they are absolutely amazing I was unable to drive a car previously a ride in a car. now I'm able to travel in the car again which is very nice
